I WOKE UP CHRISTMAS EVE
and decided that I wanted to record my own version of "Little Drummer Boy" This what I came up with Not exactly showroom quality, but I wanted to get it out while it was still timely. For all you music geeks and gear nerds, Every sound was created on my Roland Handsonic. Limiting myself this made the process a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas!
I'M RUNNING A SPECIAL FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
Some of you know of my previous bands, Ashworth and Siochain. Others of you know of my album,"Today Is The Day" For this holiday season I'm making a 3 album stocking stuffer deal avaiable for just $20. The first 20 orders will be personally signed.
My 3 week run at the Fireside Brewhouse as a band leader went well. I am busy booking more shows there and other places. Look for new shows in the new year.
THIS SATURDAY IS THE DEBUT
of my new project, simply called, Bryan Meyers. I will playing drums AND singing. My band will likely include various players, all of whom are remarkable musicians and good friends. Please be sure to join us every Saturday in November at"FIRESIDE BREWHOUSE".
But, while you're here, look around. I've done some house cleaning and added a lot of new photos and videos. I hope you enjoy.
Came to the midwest twice this summer. I had the good pleasure to play some intensely rocking shows with Loaner from Yuma, AZ. The shows were well received. I expect there will be more to come in the near future. I'll keep you posted but be sure to keep up to date at"LOANER".
THE FIRST PART OF THE YEAR
I put a lot of time working with Jason Sturgeon Band. We had fun shooting the video for "Simple Life" and doing some good shows and industry showcases. In the end, my involvement was short lived. What followed was longest break I've had in years. It has proved to be a good thing.
This down time has lead to my first album. What started as an idea presented to me by my friend, Tony Scelzo became "Today Is The Day". It is available from the store and "iTunes". You can download a free song from the album at "Free Download". I hope you not only enjoy the music but find it helps you to encourages you and helps you achieve your goals.
Until then, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless.
AS THE YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE, I LOOK BACK TO SEE ONE AMAZING YEAR.
I spent the better part of it on the tour bus with the Kelly Richey Band. I met a lot of great people and saw many parts of the country for the first time. But these things don't last forever. We will perform 4 more shows in January. At that time, Kelly will be going on hiatus. Many thanks to Kelly and Jimmy V for inviting me to work with you this year. It has been a remarkable experience.
Michael Roe has released a great new album,"We All Gonna Face The Rising Sun". I had the good pleasure to contribute my playing on one song. This album and "Experience Worship" are now available in the store.
So, what's on the horizon? My good friend Matt Haupt and I have been composing music for television lately. This is been an absolute blast. I'll keep you posted as things develope. I will post a few clips to listen to soon.
I have also begun rehearsals with a new artist to really keep you eyes and ears open for... JASON STURGEON. We have a few dates scheduled already, but plan to be hitting road pretty hard real soon. I will post the tour dates as soon as they are finalized. I hope to see many of you out on the road.
Until then, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless.
THIS YEARS NAMM SHOW COMBINED WITH BEACH VACATION WITH MY LOVELY WIFE WAS GREAT!
! Got to visit with a lot of friends at show. It was great to catch with the good folks from Spaun Drums, Kelly Shu, Meinl, XL Specialty as well as my old drum teacher Hunter Herman. Always good to have some down time at the beach in January!
I recently did some session work with Mark Imboden. Mark is a great song writer who is mostly known for the song, You Are Holy, which has been popularized my Michael W. Smith. I am looking forward to hearing the finished product. I also worked on some finishing touches on our churchs new, Experience Live Worship From The Vineyard. There is a CD release party tomorrow. However, I wont be there. Ive started working with the Kelly Richey Band Kelly is a fiery Blues guitarist from Cincinnati, OH. Its a real please to work with her and bassist Jimmy V. Well be keeping a pretty busy schedule this year, so look for us in a city near you.
SORRY FOR THE LONG ABSENCE.
IT'S BEEN BUSY THESE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
I'll try to be concise. There have been a lot of changes. After nine years with Ashworth, I've decided to call it a day. It has been a great band to be apart of. We made two albums that I am very proud of. Adam Nevins is still doing shows with various players in Indianapolis as Ashworth. Be sure to check them out. You never know, I just might play a one off in the future. Siochain continued our very busy schedule most of the year. We even release our second album, Peace By Peace. I'm really happy with this. Everyone performed wonderfully. Mike Petrow's engineering and mixing are stellar. However, after a very productive 3 1/2 years, Siochain is no more. Greater details are at www.siochain.net . We are sad, but it feels right. Our final shows were some of the best I've ever experienced. Our fans came out in droves and showered us with love. Very memorable. We ended on a high note.
Despite these departures, I've stayed quite busy. I have the pleasure of doing a lot of jazz gigs the last several months. Weekly gigs with Reggie Bishop and frequent shows with the Jeff DeHerdt Trio have been a real treat. I've also played shows with two talented young ladies recently. Former American Idol contestant, Kendall Phillips is a fine singer that has been doing shows in the area. More are soon to follow. Paige Richie is an Indiana based country singer who is really turning heads. I've done several shows with her throughout the midwest and south. Both ladies are great talents. Keep your eyes and ears open. I've also done other shows with The Big Legumes and Chris Smail.
I recently started producing an up and coming album with Dave Gibbs. I worked with Dave a few years ago on his first album. We were able to bring in my friend, Mike Roe, to lay down some guitar tracks. He brought some real fire to the whole project.
Finally, I am proud to say that I am now playing Spaun Drums. My custom made kit was delivered this summer. As you can see, they sound and look amazing. I'm posting more photos of them on my images page.
I JUST GOT BACK FROM A WEEK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND THE NAMM SHOW
It is always a treat to visit family, friends, the beach and warm weather in January. NAMM was amazing. I was there courtesy of Spaun Drum Company, the finest drums made. Spending time with them at NAMM reminded me of why I love these drums so much. Thank you Brian Spaun and Dave Pimental. I also met alot of other great people.Jeff and Kathleen Kelly of Kelly Shu mic mounting systems and John Stannard of Hammerax are two new companies I'm proud to be working with. The folks at Modern Drummer magazine were great to meet as was Jonathan Mover with Drumhead magazine. Find out more about these great people and products on my links page.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Billy Ward. Billy is a great drummer and educator. He has been a big influence on my approach to drumming. I had a great time hanging out with him. Every drummer should check out his cd's and dvd's. I met alot of other folks too numerous to name. But, they all made NAMM a memorable experience.
Well.....back to the snow!
WHAT GREAT COUPLE OF MONTHS!
The Ashworth CD release party was a really special night. Our opening performers, Ric Hordinski and Wolfy, gave fantastic performances. We felt embraced by them as well as the audience. In December, I performed in a Christmas production called, "Imagine Christmas", at Vineyard Community Church in Greenwood, IN. It was the coolest one of it's kind that I've ever done. My wife, Kathryn, was the music director. She did an amazing job of pulling all of the musicians and singers together to make it happen. Combined with the staging, dance and other media, it made for several powerful performances.
Siochain brought in the new year at the Claddagh Irish Pub in downtown Indianapolis. 2007 saw us do approximently 115 shows throughout the midwest. Our 2008 schedule looks to be just as busy. We will also release our second album this year. I'll keep you posted.
WELCOME TO MY SITE. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING.
Look around. You'll find the latest of what I'm up to, where I'm playing next and who I'm recording with. Listen to music on the player while exploring any page you want. You can check out a few video clips and photos. I also have CDs for sale! I will add photos, video, CDs and free downloads as time goes on. I hope you enjoy your time here. Thanks for stopping by.
I've been busy lately. Where to begin...SIOCHAIN has maintained a very steady schedule this year. We've played many Irish pubs and festivals throughout the midwest to very receptive audiences. We will have done over 100 shows by years end. We even won the People's Choice Award at the Indy Irish Fest this year. There were many excellent groups there that weekend, so we're really honored by this recognition. We are also working on our second album. We will probably release this next spring. I may post some "in progress" video or audio. So, check back.
ASHWORTH has been busier the last few months as we gear up for the release of our second album, Downtown. We will be having a CD release party on November 17,2007 at RadioRadio. Wolfy and Ric Hordinski will open the show for us. This will be a special night. The room is the coolest one in Indy. Wolfy and Ric are stellar perfomers. So, we'll be looking for ya!
CA3, my experimental project with Jeff DeHerdt has done a few shows around town the last few months. The best of which was Oranje 2007! Man, what an event that was! Artist and bands of all kinds generated about 6 hours of sensory overload. It was great to hang out and watch and play with so many people.
I am also scoring music for a film series for a Sunday school program called "KIDZ CAN". It's still very much in the development stages. I'm having a lot of fun with this. Quite different from hitting things!
